This year Kumbh mela started from 13 January 2025 and will last till 26th Febuary.
Significance
Kumbh Mela occurs after every 12 years. But this time it is special because this alingment of celestial bodies is very rare and it occurs once in 144 years. According to Hindu mythology, Kumbh Mela is related to Smudra Manthan.
Mela is held at Prayagraj Allahbad where three holy rivers ( Ganga, Yamuna , Saraswati ) meets. The point where three holy rivers meet is called Triveni Ghat or Sangam Ghat .People feel blessed after taking bath in the holy river’s sangam .
This time it has created world records of maximum human gathering at one place at one point of time. Crores of people are taking a holy dip daily . This act of taking holy dip is seen as a way of purifying body and soul.
Characteristics
Shri Yogi Aditya Nath Ji has made wonderful arrangements there under the leadership of Modi Ji. People from all over the world are coming to Kumbh . Nights are very bright there. Every night very beautifully Drone shows are being performed, which is very mesmerising.
Entry of tourists buses and any other vehicle is prohibited. Devotees have to walk for around 15 kilometres to reach the Triveni Ghat. Inspite of that people are passionately reaching there and performing sacred immersion.
